Appe want to make butonless mouse

As strange as was optical mouse just few years ago may sound currnet idea of Apple. They want to create butonless mouse. Oh, it will work as usual, but buttons and wheel are substitued by small camera. Camera which watch moving your fingers on mouse surface, and when detect you push on place where should be button, it clicks, and when it "see" you moving finger, scrolling wheel, it will turn it. Yes, that means mouse surface will be transparent. It sounds pretty interesting, will this be finally mouse, wich dont need any maintenance? My mouse need 1 or twice a year to be opened, and space under buttons cleaned.. But as all new things, i suppose it will be pretty expensive, at least first few months..
