100 Gb transfer

Bell Labs demonstrated on European Conference of Optical Comunication (EOCC) in Scotland transfer with speed more than 100Gbit/s throught optical ethernet. (currently most used is 10gbit ethernet and 40gbit sonet) In demonstration they reached speed of 107gbit/s which is enough for 100gbit for data, and 7gbit for error corrections. they reached so high transfer because of two new technologies. A) it is Duobinary signaling which is removing control data needed in clasical binary transfer. It works that allows signal to have three levels. (in binary there are 2) and B) its Single-Chip Optical Equalizer which compensates signal degradation during transfer. It allows to transfer data faster with same level of errors. Lets hope this new technology will be available soon.
