UMC will amnufacture chips for ATI

United Microelectronics Corporation will manufacture graphical units for ATI. IT will be cards based on Radeon X1800, Radeon X1600 and Radeon X1300 which should appear on market on 5th October. As reason why ATI give this manufacturing to UMC and not to TSMC (which manufactured all chips for ATI until now) is said to be low recovery of chips based on 90nm process. ATI hope that UMC will manufycture those chips for them better.
