Google have problems with power

Urs Hoelzle, vice president of google talked lately about problems what they have. Because of using thousands of normal computers instead of few supercomputers (which should of course cost much more. Supercomputers, not normal ones.) have company now problems with power. Rapid growth of google users ansd pages between which is searching needs more and more computers, and elektricity cost them more and more. Because of it will google cooperate with developers who are working on hardware with lower pover consumption.

Firefox have over 10%

By one company from Nederland, which counts shares of browsers on market now is using some version of firefox more than 1 of 10. By that message, share of microsoft explorer went down to 85%, firefox have now 11,51%. It was counted by anaylzing acesses on some faithfull servers, so this is probably pretty accurate. (to be honest, i am using normal mozilla, not firefox, but still rising rate of non explorer users makes me happy.)

AMD is preparing Dualcore A Fx

AMD is currently working on releasing processor called Athlon 64 FX60, which should have been even more powerfull than current FX57. And it wont be single cored like today 57, but it will contain two cores, working probably on 2600 Mhz with 1 Mb cache. Just hope, that one day, it will cost less than 1000 dollars, which should cost now. BUt truth is, that Fx serie was allways the most powerfull what AMD supplied, and best modell allways cost most money.

Intel Itanium Montecito will be later and slower

Than expected. Truth is, that because of hardware incompatibility, very few custommers have today server powered by Intel Itanium processor, and even those few who had to recompile all software to run on this different machine are now loosing their hope to upgrade to new models which should come soon. Intel now announced, that it will be probably in middle of year 2006, ane also that those new modells wont contain some new technologies which were expected to give them better speed. So, its next part of story called How to get rid of custommers from Intel. To make everything later, slower, and more expensive than AMD cant be step to win.
