ATI lost 104 milions

By Tom's hardware ATI announced, that they have lost 104 milions of $ In each quarter of this year. ATI didnot officially explained this, but its thought, that it is because of late in releasing X1000 series of graphical chips. By this delay got NVidia much bigger part of market, than they previously expected. But ATI still hope that it will go better.

Google and Sun together

Google and Sun company announced together, that they will from now support Java Runtime Enviroment from Sun, and also alternative office software Open Office. Download of both things will be available directly on google pages, and so they will be easier reachable. Google is probably building its new office pack to work with Java Runtime Enviroment, so its logical step, to work on this interface with Sun.

It will cover about 49 square miles, and they are planning to have 30 hotspots on every mile. Speed will be set 300kbit, which is not fastest, but for free? i will take it. Google is not considering possibility that they will make similar project in other cities. (But who knows?)

100 Gb transfer

Bell Labs demonstrated on European Conference of Optical Comunication (EOCC) in Scotland transfer with speed more than 100Gbit/s throught optical ethernet. (currently most used is 10gbit ethernet and 40gbit sonet) In demonstration they reached speed of 107gbit/s which is enough for 100gbit for data, and 7gbit for error corrections. they reached so high transfer because of two new technologies. A) it is Duobinary signaling which is removing control data needed in clasical binary transfer. It works that allows signal to have three levels. (in binary there are 2) and B) its Single-Chip Optical Equalizer which compensates signal degradation during transfer. It allows to transfer data faster with same level of errors. Lets hope this new technology will be available soon.

XP service pack 3

There will be third Service Pack for Windows XP, but it will be released after Windows Vista. There are no more informations about it, except it will be released in late 2006 or early 07. Just hope it will be as good as Service Pack 2, which is (except some incompatibility) really good product.
