MIT is year or so working on extracheap notebook for poor countries. It is now more real, because they reached its hardware configuration. It should contain 500mhz processor, 1Gb of ram, WiFi card, and coloured display. (it can also work as black and white for energy savings) Machine should work with linux and other free software, and because of massive construction will be durable even in harsh places.
I wouldnt expect anybody to make false harddrives, but now its true. On japan market is now mysterious model Maxtor MaxLine II 5A320J0. (it have mistake in writings, beacuse Maxtor's original is MaXLine) Maxtor really manufactured similar drive, but its now only history, currently are manufactured only models with 250G and 300G capacity. Who falses drives?
Like INTEL, also AMD have empty warehouses. But in this case, not with chipsets, but its about processors. In Asia is now not enough A64 3000+ and A64 X2 3800+ processors to supply local market. First is processor with good price, and good overclocking possibilities, and second is the slowest from dual core processors, which allows to build dualcore computer for reasonable price. By Amd situation will be in normal within week or two.
You have AGP slot in your pc and you wanted to use it for new graphic cards with Radeon X1800? You have bad luck, because ATI lately promissed those cards, but now they announced it wont be manufactured. So, AGP will finaly die with GeForce 6800 Ultra. This is finally the best card which can be inserted into it, all more powerfull graphical chips will be only for PCI-Express.
Company In-Stat which mades statistics for different purposes announced that this year will by 4th in row when number of sold bluetooth device is doubled. It is expected that there will be sold total of 316 milions bluetooth devices, and on year 2009 they are promising 866 milions. (but question is who is buying cell phone because of good integrated bluetooth, and the others who even dont know their phone have it.)
United Microelectronics Corporation will manufacture graphical units for ATI. IT will be cards based on Radeon X1800, Radeon X1600 and Radeon X1300 which should appear on market on 5th October. As reason why ATI give this manufacturing to UMC and not to TSMC (which manufactured all chips for ATI until now) is said to be low recovery of chips based on 90nm process. ATI hope that UMC will manufycture those chips for them better.
Brightside technologies announced they have finished manufacturinf prototypes of theri new EDR (Extreme Dynamic Range) LCD display. Its new technology allows it to have high Luminosity (3000 cd/m2)but due to its exteremly high contrast (200 000:1) it have real black color. But it has also its disadvantages. Power consumption is about 1600W and it should cost slightly less than 50 000 dollars.
Microsoft have celebrated its 30th birthday. With memory that it was founded by Bill Gates in August in year 1975, they officially celebrated their 30th birthday in 23rd september 2005. All 16000 workers heard on Seatle Baseball stadion thanks from big Bill, and his hopes for even more wealth and prosperity of company.
