Lets hope that second core wont higher power consumpted by processors, but it will higher computing power well. And of course, where single channel memory bus at 400 mhz have throughput 3,2 gb/s, there will have dual chanelled bus at 533 much better 8,6gb/s. Just wait for first notebooks which will have those processors.
Not usable instead of hard drive, information can be written only once on that new medium, but it should be much much bigger than cd, dvd and even hd-dvd (or blu ray..). But it sholuld be excelent data storage, because size (from start they promise 300gb per one medium) and speed, due to reading much more data in single moment, it should provide them by speed of 120Megs per second. Interesting, but how much it will cost?
By some internet phorums, people who bought Microsoft new console XBox 360 have prolems with its stability, machines are during game freezing. Microsoft oficially announced, that those problems have only very little number of xboxes, but at newt, there are pretty much people saying they have problems. If that is true, it can help Sony with introducing their new console, which is of course last thing Microsoft want.
Many people have now 64 bit processor, but nearly nobody have system different than 32bit XP windows with SP2. Their new system called Vista, will exist in 32 and 64 bit versions, but its sucessor, (codename Longhorn R2) will be only 64bit, and many product from Microsoft will follow, and wont exist in 32bit versions. That is only situation for home machines, professional servers will be 64 bit only soon.
Before few days appeared on net pictures, which are said to be new AMD socket F (for server processors) but nobody from AMD commented it, and they are so indifferent, so they can be fake. (but dont have to be) They looks like server processors should be socketed into something similar to Intel LGA socket, no pins on processor. But now there are photos of socket M, and they look just like we thought they will look. 940 pinned socket, very similar to today socket 940 for opterons. Just hope this photos are not joke.
It is not long, when ATi made show that their top level card know how to adress 1 Gb of memory. Now Nvidia announced, that Their cards based on chips G70 and NV40 or NV45 can adress unbelievable 2 GB of memory. It is more than most people have in their pc, so usability of this is questionable, but sure it is good for marketing.
